AKTUALISASI NILAI BUDAYA PADA PELESTARIAN MASJID JAMIK HABIB MUDA SEUNAGAN PEULEKUNG NAGAN RAYA

Abstract

This study explores the actualization of local cultural values in the preservation of the Jamik Habib Muda Seunagan Mosque, located in Peuleukung, Nagan Raya, Aceh. The mosque serves not only as a place of worship but also as a vital center for cultural, educational, and social activities that reflect the richness of Acehnese heritage. Utilizing a qualitative descriptive method supported by sociocultural and functionalist approaches, this research involved in-depth interviews, field observations, and document analysis. The findings show that religious practices such as zikir, Islamic sermons, and commemorations of Islamic holidays, along with local traditions like kenduri and cultural ceremonies, are pivotal in maintaining the mosque’s role as a cultural hub. The architectural elements of the mosque, including traditional Acehnese carvings and spatial arrangements, are preserved with deep respect for historical authenticity. Community involvement, especially by religious leaders and local government, plays a critical role in balancing cultural preservation with necessary physical renovations. Despite challenges posed by modernization and generational shifts, the community continues to reinforce these values through education and youth participation. This study emphasizes the importance of integrating religious and cultural practices in sustaining heritage sites and ensuring their relevance for future generations.
