Evaluasi Dampak Penghapusan Ujian Nasional Terhadap Kualitas Pendidikan dan Sistem Evaluasi Sekolah-Sekolah di Indonesia

Abstract
The abolition of the National Examination (UN) in Indonesia in 2020 marked a major shift in the country’s education and evaluation system. The policy aimed to reduce the pressure felt by students and teachers due to standardized and centralized testing, and to encourage a more holistic approach to educational assessment. This study aims to evaluate the impact of the abolition of the UN on the quality of education in schools, with an emphasis on changes in assessment methods, curriculum, and student learning experiences. The study findings suggest that the shift towards competency assessments and character surveys has provided opportunities for the development of students’ critical and creative skills, as well as increasing their participation in the learning process. However, challenges remain, including the need to improve teachers’ ability to implement new assessment methods and ensure equal access to education across regions. Therefore, while the abolition of the UN has the potential to improve the quality of education, its successful and sustainable implementation remains a key factor in achieving better education goals in Indonesia.
