Abstract

Islamic music relies heavily on vocal techniques to convey spiritual and emotional depth. This study evaluates the effectiveness of vocal techniques in the Annajah Group’s performances, focusing on tajwid and pronunciation, breath control, modulation, ornamentation, and dynamic expression. A qualitative approach was employed through performance observations, interviews, and audience feedback analysis. The results indicate that 86.6% of listeners found the lyrics highly intelligible, 80% experienced emotional connection, and 86.6% reported an enhanced spiritual experience. These findings highlight the importance of structured vocal training in improving clarity, engagement, and spiritual impact. Additionally, the combination of traditional vocal techniques with instrumental accompaniment enriches the performance, reflecting a dynamic evolution of Islamic music. This study provides insights into how vocal techniques shape audience perception and offers recommendations for future research in vocal pedagogy, psychological effects, and technological advancements in Islamic music performance
